Mexican Clothing Groups
July 19, 2008 – 10:23 pmWhen you are talking about mexican clothing it is most necessary to seperate the articles of clothing into three main groups. The three groups being modern mexican clothing, traditional mexican clothing, and celebratory mexican clothing. Thanks to globalization, young Mexicans often living in the larger mexican cities wear clothes much similar to americans, multi colored t shirts, jeans and sneakers. However when you go into the smaller times you can see where the modern clothing stops and the native feeling gets put right back into place. It is mainly shown by the colors that the traditional mexicans mostly live by.
People who live within those towns often love the earthly colors, colors such as brown or red, even though it isn't uncommon to find yellows and greens as parts of the clothes. The traditional mexican clothing combines many native and European elements. The choice fibers among Mexicano's are cottons, agave, and bark. Sometimes even silk and wool is used alot. In the past the clothing was dyed with many natural things such as plant dyes and other stuff that would be found round about the world. Dyes were often also bought from Europe as they supplied a vast array of many beautiful styles and colors of dyes for the mexican clothing.
As for the celebratory mexican clothing, there can be a costume found for almost every different day of the year. National celebrations are often celebrated by wearing typical regular clothes including obviously would be the sought after huge sombrero. The special days like the day of death are very closely guarded as religion and that can be seen on costumes too. Carnival celebration clothing is often the Charro suit which is very widely popularized by the outfits that the mariachi band wears.
